NNSCI Member Keith Lee & Wife Gloria Visiting Dargle School
During an August 2011 safari in KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, SCI Northern Nevada Chapter member Keith Lee and his wife delivered two SafariCare bags. The first, filled with school supplies went to the 130 students of Dargle Primary School, and the second to a clinic. To say that the supplies wer needed is an understatement.
Free Fishing Derby 2011
What a Fishing Event! Sparks Marina was the site for the Free Fishing Derby sponsored by the Sparks Rotary Group, the Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club International (NNSCI), Nevada Bighorns Unlimited (NBU) and the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW). June 11, 2011 was a clear, sunny day. Two thousand twenty (2,020) young anglers registered and participated in the Free Fishing Derby. Thousands of fish were stocked; hundreds of fish were caught. The kids had a wonderful experience with their morning fishing adventure. Besides the fishing experience, many other activities were available for the kids to experience. The Northern Nevada Chapter of Safari Club International hosted the Safari Club International Sensory Safari Mobile Education Center. The kids and parents were able to walk through the trailer and have a hands-on experience, looking and touching feel the animals placed throughout the exhibit. Hundreds of orange SCI T-shirts were passed out to the kids. What a tremendous sight it was…to see a crowd of young, happy kids wearing the bright orange SCI shirts.

Feed the Hungry Feast
Attendance at Reno's 'Feast' Jumps over 35%. When The Salvation Army's annual Feed the Hungry Feast at the Reno Events Center was over, there were 20 unused plates left - out of 2,000! That’s 500 more meals than last year and four times the number served at the first dinner in 1999. Northern Nevada Safari Club International donates game meet to this event.
